A weather-resistant, outdoor DSLR camera has just been recently announced by Ricoh, the Pentax K-70. Although this tough camera did not go far away from its predecessor when it comes to features, this lightweight and compact camera has some improvements.
Features
The K-70 is ideal for outdoor photography and great for people on the go. It boasts of a new grip design and easy-to-operate control buttons. Additionally, the LCD monitor comes with an adjustable illumination control to accommodate various lighting levels.
This DSLR camera has a shutter speed of up to 1/6000 second that is capable of capturing focused and sharp images even if the subject is moving at a high speed. It can capture six images per second at Continuous Shooting Mode.
It also comes with a CMOS image sensor with 24.24 megapixels and an AA-filter-free optical design to ensure super high resolution images. Moreover, the Pentax K-70 is powered by a high-speed PRIME MII imaging engine that yields images filled with details. It also boasts of a hybrid AF system for Live View capturing. This feature ensures pinpoint autofocusing on the subject at high-speeds. The K-70 also offers an almost 100-percent field of view as well as 0.95 times magnification with its optical viewfinder.
For minimal camera shake and sharp, clear images, this DSLR camera has a built-in SR (Shake Reduction) mechanism that works even in camera-shake prone situations like when used with telephoto lens and settings with low light. This mechanism can detect the movement of the camera and automatically controls the SR unit to come up with the best possible image.
Another interesting feature is the Pixel Shift Resolution System that is capable of capturing a scene and come up with four images and turns it into a composite image. Apart from auto-correction of motion which minimizes the negative effects from a moving object taken in continuous shooting mode, this feature also boasts of delivering super-high-resolution images.
Recording Capabilities
The Pentax K-70 can record in Full HD at 1920 x 1080 pixels and 60i/30p frame rate. It also has a built-in microphone for capturing stereo sound audio. It is also compatible with different lenses, thus, it allows for Continuous AF and correct exposure level despite changing lighting conditions. Moreover, it is flexible enough to provide a variety of visual effects as well as has the 4K Internal Movie mode. This allows for the user to create a single movie file using 4K-resolution images. It also has an LCF monitor that can be tilted for shooting from different angles, from low-angle shots to high-angle video and image capturing.
Other Features
This hybrid camera features a Dust Removal (DR) mechanism that takes care of the dust on the CMOS image sensor. It is capable of high-precision light metering due to its 77-segment multi-pattern metering system. As for sharing files and transferring images, the K-70 is capable of WiFi connectivity and also comes with imaging tools such as Digital Filters, Scene Modes and Custom Images.
Overall, the Pentax K-70 DSLR camera from Ricoh is a robust and rugged device that is great for outdoor photography. With a market price of $646.95, this latest camera looks promising.
